CAT Digit Span

Digit (or digital) span is a popular test of working memory. This particular implementation is based on a study entitled, Improving digit span assessment of short-term verbal memory.

Upon completion of the test, you will receive an IQ score (aka standard score).

CAT is an acronym for computerized adaptive testing. The word "adaptive", in this case, refers to the test's 1:2 staircase method; upon a correct response, the difficulty is incremented by 1 digit. Upon 2 wrong responses, the difficulty is reduced by 1 digit. This allows the test to efficiently measure the examinee's precise digit span ability, and calculate a very accurate score for their short-term verbal memory.
